چکیده
Abstract. Vertical wind (w) is one of the most important meteorological parameters for understanding a range different atmospheric phenomena. Very few direct measurements w are available so that time must depend on reanalysis products. In present study, assessment among selected reanalyses (ERA-Interim, ERAi; ERA fifth generation, ERA5; Modern-Era Retrospective analysis Research and Applications, version 2, MERRA-2; National Center Atmospheric Depart- ment Energy reanalysis, NCEP–DOE (R-2); Japanese 55-year JRA-55) qualitative comparison those datasets with VHF radar over convectively active regions Gadanki, India (13.5∘ N, 79.2∘ E), Kototabang, Indonesia (0∘ S, 100.2∘ presented first in troposphere lower stratosphere. The magnitude derived from 10 %–50 % less than observations. Radar show downdrafts below 8 km updrafts above 8–10 both locations. Intercomparison between ensemble respect to individual shows ERAi, MERRA-2 JRA-55 compare well compared ERA5 (R-2). There no significant improvement due effect spatial sampling data around Gadanki station. Directional tendency percentage captured reasonably good, but not by all reanalyses. Thus, caution advised when using

Snow stratigraphy measurements with high-frequency FMCW radar: Comparison with snow micro-penetrometer
The stratigraphy of an alpine snowpack is very important for avalanche danger assessment, as well as interpretation of remote sensing measurements for hydrological purposes. Since spatial variability is often widespread, due mainly to wind, micro-climatic and topographic effects, extrapolating point measurements can be difficult. Tools which can quickly characterize snowpack stratigraphy, such ...
متن کاملVery High-Frequency Radar Mapping of Surface Currents
An ocean surface current radar (OSCR) in the very high frequency (VHF) mode was deployed in South Florida Ocean Measurement Center (SFOMC) during the summer of 1999. During this period, a 29-d continuous time series of vector surface currents was acquired starting on 9 July 1999 and ending 7 August 1999. Over a 20-min sample interval, the VHF radar mapped coastal ocean currents over a 7.5 km 8 ...
